Floyd was born in 1935 to parents Newton and Willie Nell (Keen) Moye. His childhood was idealic and memorable with siblings Ruth Keene, Alex and Carrie Nelle. He attended Gordon Military, University of Georgia, Officers Training School and Jump School until he served in the United States Army at Fort Ord; Monterey Bay, California. There he met the love of his life, Twila Rae Dotson Moye. Together they enjoyed sixty four years of marriage and raised three children, Tom Moye (Kelly), Fred Moye (Jan) and Monta Rae Moye Purser (Steven); nine grandchildren including Thomas Moye (Neve), Lauren Booher (Chris), Alex Moye, Jonathan Moye (Lindsay), Tara Randolf (Travis), Cassi Moye, Scott Purser (Chandler), Aaron Purser (Janie) and David Purser; four great-grandchildren, Parker Randolph, Emma Randolph, Henderson Purser, Clark Thomas Purser and two more little ones on the way; and countless relatives who loved him so very much.

Floyd enthusiastically embraced life and was known to always invite anyone and everyone to participate in wholesome and worthwhile endeavors. He successfully sold life insurance to families all over the state of Georgia and knew every route possible. In his “free time” he ran a successful hunting preserve, Redbone Farms Hunting Preserve, Redbone Farms Barn Dance and Little Tobesofkee Creek Ranch (a fly-in equestrian farm) that were known throughout the Piedmont.

Never failing to serve his church in multiple capacities (Deacon, Song Leader, Choir member), he was also known to be a generous neighbor and friend. His life is marked by love, laughter and singing. Family and friends consider themselves blessed to have known him. Family is everything!

A celebration of his life was held at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church on March 23, 2024, with beautiful music, stunning flag presentation and meaningful tributes given.

Floyd is truly now “FREE” and resting in the sweet peace of God’s love.
